Crown Sports Lockers: Made in Britain

Increasing numbers of businesses are joining Made in Britain, a campaign which unites the whole British manufacturing sector to promote and support businesses both in the UK and worldwide.

It is aimed at helping Britain’s manufacturers to boost sales by having one single marque which proves to buyers and consumers that the product has been made in the UK. It’s an easily-recognisable logo that consumers keen to buy British can see right away.

Flexible use of the marque is permitted, so businesses using it can take ownership to promote their own individual brand under the Made in Britain umbrella.

Made in Britian

How did Made in Britain start?

The initiative was launched in 2013 by a member-funded, non-profit organisation set up by a committee of directors. The key figures are representatives of UK-based manufacturers and leaders of other groups which back British industry.

The marque is central to the campaign and takes inspiration from the Union Jack. It’s designed to work across a range of materials, media and sizes, ensuring it can be used by manufacturers of a diverse range of products. It can also be localised by county or region.

Sectors

Made in Britain covers many sectors across industries including building and construction; clothing and apparel; energy; engineering; environmental; food and beverage; health and beauty; home and living; printing and publishing; sports and leisure; technology and transport. Some of Great Britain’s longest-established and leading businesses in all sectors are members of Made in Britain.

Among the members are Devon based specialist Locker manufacturer Crown Sports Lockers; Yorkshire-based Acorn Lifts, who manufacture stair-lifts; double-glazing manufacturer Anglian Home Improvements; Lancashire Textiles, one of the last mills in the county; Tarmac construction solutions; King of Shaves skincare brand; Toffs old-fashioned football shirts; Thomas Crapper bathroom units, established in 1861; Trevor Sorbie hair salon; and Van Guard vehicle accessories, to name but a few.

Benefits

There are several reasons why so many top companies are supporting Made in Britain. In addition to having access to the Made in Britain marque – a hallmark of quality – members also receive a dedicated company page online in the Made in Britain directory, with social media links, photos and videos. There are also exclusive offers, networking opportunities and trade discounts available via the members’ newsletter.

The high-quality products made by companies represented by Made in Britain reassure consumers that British design and manufacturing are desirable and relevant, both in the UK and abroad.

David Osborne, a member of Made in Britain’s board of directors, says the campaign has made great strides forward already but there‚Äôs still much more scope for promoting British manufacturing with the marque. It’s an important time for British manufacturers to get their marketing strategy right, with Made in Britain uniquely placed to help them win business here and abroad.
