Everyone loves to feel fresh, refreshed and revitalised – and we all choose to get that feeling in a number of different ways. Spa treatments are a perennially popular choice, but with such a wide variety out there, for both men and women alike, it can be hard to know which option to go for.
Those looking to treat themselves to a facial have plenty of new and innovative choices to consider, to suit all skin types and concerns. Here are four of our current favourites:
Laser and light treatments
Head to Skin Laundry at London’s Liberty on Regent Street or Harvey Nichols in Bristol or Leeds, and enjoy their 15-minute YAG laser and IPL light facial. It claims to deep clean and tone the skin, and with multiple treatments over time, those who opt for this treatment can see improvements in texture, tone, clarity, firmness and smoothness, as well as a reduction in the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Prices start from £60 for a single treatment, with savings for bundles of treatments.
The Light Salon at Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge is pioneering the LED facial. It takes just 20-30 minutes and there are three options available: one using blue LED to cleanse and correct, one with yellow and near-infrared LED to rejuvenate and improve skin health, and a quick boost which doesn’t even require you to remove makeup first. Each treatment is priced at £35 for a single session, with discounts for bookings of three or more sessions. Add-ons, such as peels and masks, are also available.
Described by Vanity Fair as “LA’s most sought-after facial”, Face Place facials are now available at the Alex Eagle Studio in Soho, London. Their signature treatment combines pore extraction techniques with a galvanic mask through which a current is passed, along with collagen and vitamin C for its antioxidant properties. Benefits include tighter skin, fewer lines, improved skin tone and a firmer complexion. The treatment can be combined with a mani-pedi or a massage too. Prices start from £140 for a 70-minute signature treatment.
Stem cell facials
The placenta and umbilical cord of mammals have been found to be rich in certain stem cells which when used in facial skincare treatments can have an anti-ageing effect – by increasing the skin’s elastic fibres and collagen. The Jill Zander spa in Esher’s five-step VIP Stem Cell treatment also claims to hydrate the skin and reduce both inflammation and rosacea too. Treatments are priced from £180 for a single treatment, with a course of treatments starting at £750.
