We are almost at the end of year 2023, and have been reflecting on the fact that we have managed to secure numerous contracts for our wooden lockers, covering diverse sectors across the UK, despite the ongoing economic downturn – for which we are very grateful.
The team at Crown Sports Lockers have again been hard at work, surveying, quoting, designing, manufacturing and installing quality wooden lockers over the past 12 months, and have had one of the strongest years since the Covid lockdown in 2020.
A Selection Of Projects Completed During 2023
These are just a few of the projects we have completed over the past year, across the sectors. Wooden Golf Lockers were very popular this year, as were Spa Lockers, Hotel Lockers, Leisure Lockers, Office Lockers, Football Lockers and School Lockers.
Golf Clubs
The Essex Golf & Country Club, Colchester:
Our team undertook the design, manufacture & installation of 2-tier wooden golf lockers with internal hanging rail and coat hooks; hair dryer vanity units; changing cubicles; full length mirrors; vanity units with counter top basins and upholstered free standing benches for this beautiful golf and country club.
Burhill Golf Club – Walton on Thames, Surrey:
We designed, manufactured & installed wooden golf lockers in the trolley-bag storage room, for the golf club which has 2 spectacular courses on the Burhill Estate.

Centurion Golf Club, St. Albans:
A private, members-only golf club in Hertfordshire, where we designed, manufactured and installed wooden golf lockers, complete with signage and livery for the LIV Golf Tournament.
The Grove is a championship golf course and award-winning spa with fine dining restaurants, where we were asked to install wooden lockers for the male changing area.
We also designed, manufactured and installed our durable wooden golf lockers to the female locker rooms in the Worplesdon Golf Club in Woking and the Camberley Heath Golf Club in Surrey.
School Lockers
Amongst other school projects, we have installed our wooden school lockers in the following establishments:
King Edward VI School in Southampton:
In this leading independent day school in Hampshire, we were contracted to design, manufacture and install 204 wooden school lockers for holdalls, along with hockey stick units. See our case study to read more about this project.
We also completed a project at this co-educational, private day school in Chester, designing, manufacturing and installing our quality wooden school lockers for their students.
Offices
Sopers House, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire:
At this 3-floor, multi-occupancy space, where co-workers can rent a desk in offices, we were delighted to have won the contract to complete changing room fit-out for the changing rooms. See our case study to read more about this project.
Wooden Gym Lockers
Gymnasium Brixton, London:
For this top of the range gym in Brixton, we designed, manufactured and installed wooden gym lockers for their changing rooms.
Iron Island Gym, Margate:
We fitted 2-tier, Z door wooden gym lockers, with integrated floating bench seating with solid timber slats to the changing rooms of this state-or-the-art gym facility.
Wooden Hotel Lockers and Wooden Spa Lockers/Changing Rooms
Nici Hotel, Bournemouth:
This Hotel and Spa, situated on West Cliff has undergone a multimillion-pound refurbishment, including a luxury spa facility. We installed wooden spa lockers and changing rooms in both the male and female locker rooms.
Bainland Lodge Retreat, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire:
For Bainland Lodge, we designed, manufactured and installed wooden spa lockers, towel units, bench seating and valuables lockers in their new wellness and fitness suite.
Titanic Hotel, Liverpool:
We designed, manufactured and installed wooden spa lockers for holdalls and clothes; slatted bench seating and vanity units with integrated towel bins, for the male and female changing rooms of the hotel’s new Maya Blue Wellness luxury spa facility, based in the underground of Stanley Dock.
Odyssey Spa, Knebworth:
This luxurious, award-winning spa asked us to design, manufacture and install our wooden spa lockers for the men’s locker room.
Wooden Leisure Lockers
Depot Climbing, Leeds:
We designed, manufactured and installed perfect matt-finish wooden leisure lockers, with integrated slatted bench seating for the male and female changing areas in the Leeds branch of this wall-climbing establishment.
We completed the project for clothes and bag, wooden leisure lockers, plus integrated bench seating, for the Victoria branch of Psycle – this is the 5th project we have completed for Psycle – a ride, barre and yoga studio.

Football Lockers
Margate Football Club in Kent:
Margate are in the Isthmian League Premier Division, and have reached the 3rd round of the FA Cup on two occasions. Crown Sports Lockers were contracted to design, manufacture and install individual wooden football locker units, with blue and white bodies, and blue padded seating.
Over the years, we have completed projects for football and rugby clubs in the UK – both professional and local-league.
Staff News at Crown Sports Lockers
During 2023, Russell has moved over to the production side of the company, as Production Manager.
We are pleased to have welcomed Kiera to the Support Team in October, taking up a role which includes administration and support.
Shows & Exhibitions
In May, Crown Sports Lockers attended the ISA Annual Conference (Independent Schools Association) as the Gold Preferred Supplier for wooden school lockers.
Also in May, we attended the ISBA (Independent Schools Bursars Association) Conference. We became an ISBA Directory Partner towards the end of the year, which will be ongoing throughout 2024, and hopefully beyond.
In October, we exhibited at the IHS (Independent Hotel Show) for the 11th year! This show brings together luxury and boutique hoteliers from across the UK, and is always a great opportunity for networking and showcasing examples of our products.
Made In Britain
Since 2017, we have been part of the ‘Made in Britain’ campaign, and carry the registered collective mark of British provenance and high standards. Our wooden lockers are designed and manufactured at our premises in Paignton, Devon. We renewed our membership once again for 2023/24. See our blog for more information.
Environmentally Minded
We have installed EV chargers on our premises, to charge electric vehicles. All of the wood for our products is responsibly sourced.
Looking Ahead to 2024 and Beyond!
In 2024, the plan is to continue to build on our success and become even stronger again! We already have some projects in the pipeline, and are looking forward to winning many more in the future.
