Wooden Lockers in 2024
Our team at Crown Sports Lockers have been very busy over the last year, and have completed many projects over various sectors. We have been looking back at the past 12 months and celebrating yet another successful year, designing, manufacturing, and installing our quality wooden lockers and changing room facilities across the UK. A Diverse Range of Sectors
The beginning of 2024 also saw the launch of our new ‘School Lockers’ website, which is just one of the sectors we excel in.
Some may look at our company name, and assume that we only manufacture our wooden lockers for Sports Clubs and Facilities. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Whilst the company started out with Sports Lockers over 30 years ago, we have extensive knowledge and experience – and over the decades, have evolved by utilising our skills to successfully adapt our offerings to a diverse range of sectors across the UK. Sectors include (but are not limited to) Sports Club Lockers, Golf Lockers, Football Lockers, School Lockers, Office Lockers/Workplace Lockers, Leisure Lockers, Hotel Lockers and Spa Treatment Rooms.

Here are just a few of the projects we have been working on, during the past 12 months:
St. Moritz Hotel (incorp. The Cowshed Spa)
The St Moritz Hotel is a prestigious Hotel and Spa in Trebetherick, Cornwall, and can be found between Daymer Bay and Polzeath, tucked away in a quiet spot which overlooks the beautiful coast. This project was yet another to add to our ever-growing portfolio of high-end spas in the South West of England.
Working alongside the main designer, 3iDog, and Luscombe Construction, we manufactured and installed 2-tier clothes lockers in both the male and female changing rooms. Spa Locker doors were in a shaker-style, with the male lockers being finished in blue, and the female lockers in cardroom green, and all were fitted with digi keypad locks. Free-standing benches completed the look.
Basingstoke Golf Club
Working alongside O & D Construction, who were building the new clubhouse at Basingstoke Golf Club, we designed, manufactured and installed golf lockers for new, male and female changing rooms. Lockers were in Beige-grey Lorenzo Oak, fitted with Cam locks. The female lockers were finished in Cornflower Blue and the male lockers in Teal. We also installed hanging space, seating, vanity units, and towel drops. The seating was upholstered in ‘Agua’ high performance upholstery fabric.
Davenies School (Phase 2)
After meeting us at the Independent Schools Bursars’ Association exhibition in May 2022, we were subsequently awarded the contract for ‘Phase 1’ at Davenies Boys Preparatory School in Beaconsfield. We designed, manufactured and fitted 240 sports lockers with 2-coloured, blue and yellow doors, along with bespoke island seating – this meant that all of the pupils had a locker each. Locks were not required; therefore, all were fitted with flush, inset pull handles.
In January 2024, we were approached to quote for the completion of ‘Phase 2.’ In the summer of 2024, we installed 130 smaller holdall lockers with a woodgrain finish, to the science and music lobbies. We were highly praised for being on time, and on budget, and our installers were also given credit for their fantastic skills.
Birmingham City Football Club
In November 2023, we were approached by the main contractor, Intex Projects, who were refurbishing the building at the training ground of Birmingham City FC, at Wast Hill, after a fire had caused serious damage. We designed, manufactured and installed wooden football lockers for both the Ladies’ 1st Team changing room and the Development changing room.
In the 1st Team changing room, we designed, manufactured and installed open football lockers with hanging rails, lockable compartments, a drawer below each bench and ‘upholstered top’ seat units. In addition to this, we fitted shower cubicles, washroom cubicles and vanity units to complement the lockers. In the Development changing room, we fitted modular units, with lockable compartments, open storage, coat hooks and laminate seat units.
The Clubhouse – Various Sites
Some of the other projects we have worked on in 2024 are The Club at CAMS Hall Estate in Fareham, Hampshire, Mapledurham Golf Club, Health & Spa in Reading, and Witney Lakes Resort in Oxford – all for The Club Company (previously Clubhouse) who we are fortunate to have built a close working relationship with over at least the past 20 years.
All three clubs followed the same specification, requiring us to work with The Club Company designers, before manufacturing and installing quality wooden lockers, wet and dry vanities with solid surface tops and base units, plus free-standing, upholstered seating. Doors were in Polyrey Shene Antique Oak inlaid with vertical metal strips, and fitted with RFID locks. At Cams Hall, we also manufactured and fitted a reception desk.
Accreditations/Memberships
We are pleased to have been accredited with the ‘Made in Britain’ mark, which will be carried on in 2025. Being able to design, and manufacture our own products at our factory in Devon, means that we are always able to maintain our high standards and oversee quality control from the outset. Having our own skilled installation team, also means that we have total control of standards, right through to the end of your project.
We are proud to be ISBA (Independent Schools Bursars’ Association) partners again in 2024, which we will also be continuing into 2025. We have installed our lockers at many prestigious independent schools and colleges across the UK, often being invited back to install further phases as part of their refurbishments or new building projects.
Exhibitions/Shows
In 2024, we showcased our durable and aesthetically pleasing wooden lockers and ancillaries at two venues. We will also be exhibiting at these two shows in 2025 – watch this space!
In May, we exhibited at the Independent Schools Bursars’ Association Conference, at the International Convention Centre in Newport, Wales. Our company has been exhibiting at these ISBA events for several years, and we were honoured to be returning once again, to network and display some examples of our quality wooden school lockers.
In October, we exhibited at the Independent Hotel Show at London Olympia for the 12th time! This enabled us to meet with business contacts and create new connections, discussing lockers, changing rooms and storage requirements for both chain, independent or boutique hotels and spa facilities.
