As leading wooden locker manufacturers, the team at Crown Sports Lockers have been reflecting on the past year, and looking forward to whatever 2023 might bring their way.
Crown have had yet another successful year, providing quality wooden lockers, changing rooms and spa solutions to a variety of sectors, including schools; golf clubs; football & sports; hotel/spa ; leisure (incl. gyms) and offices/workplaces. We are privileged to have been extremely busy despite the current economic climate, and are thankful that we have continued to flourish throughout these uncertain times.
Our Busy Year as Leading Wooden Locker Manufacturers
Over the past year, we have completed a substantial portfolio of projects – here are just a few of our recently completed installations:
Schools Lockers
Additional wooden lockers were manufactured and installed at Knightsbridge School in Westminster, London. This independent school brings together early years, preparatory and senior schools together for co-ed day education.
Wolverhampton Grammar School, an award-winning co-educational independent day school – founded in 1512, also asked us back to install an additional set of lockers for their students.
It was a pleasure to be asked to return to these schools to complete further locker projects.
Assuring smart, functional and sturdy wooden school lockers and changing room facilities that are designed to accommodate every academic need, our products can be manufactured from a standard design or bespoke to your requirements – whether for the classroom, cloakroom, staffroom or gym/swimming pool changing rooms.
Golf Clubs
Earlier in the year, we installed wooden lockers for the ‘Holyhead Golf Club’ in Trearddur, Wales. This 6,090 yard, par-71 course originally opened in 1914. Crown Sports Lockers manufactured and installed both male and female lockers, complete with solid, oak-framed shaker doors.
Part of The Club Company, the ‘Nizels Golf & Country Club’ in Kent contracted us to transform the Ladies’ Locker Room in the golf clubhouse, with new upholstered seating and washroom cubicles.
Crown have completed projects for many golf and country clubs across the UK, excelling in changing facilities, locker rooms and washroom facilities – following club branding where required. It was a privilege to work at these clubs, providing golf facilities for their members.
Football and Sports Clubs
Here at Crown Sports Lockers, we have created bespoke changing rooms, locker facilities and washrooms for both professional and semi-professional football clubs, having completed work for Crystal Palace F.C, Helston F.C. and many others.
This year, we designed, manufactured and installed changing room facilities for Bristol Rovers F.C. at their training ground. Refurbishments were also carried out at Bolton Wanderers F.C.
Changing rooms were designed, manufactured and installed for Porthleven F.C. in Cornwall – a South Western Peninsula League team in the Premier Division West.
Very recently, we worked on a refurbishment for Bath Rugby Club – a professional Rugby Union club in Somerset. Crown Sports Lockers are leading wooden locker manufacturers, and can design bespoke changing facilities, wooden lockers and washrooms for all types of sporting clubs, including rugby, cricket and many more… These are always a firm favourite with our installers, who get to visit sports grounds – all in the name of work!
Hotels / Spa Facilities
Based in Alsagar, Stoke-on-Trent, we were lucky enough to work on the fit-out of the brand-new spa at the Manor House Hotel, The hotel has recently undergone a refurbishment, with a sumptuous feel. We are pleased to say that the deluxe changing rooms we have fitted (please see above), will be complete and open in April.
The prestigious hotel ‘The Twenty Two’ in Grosvenor, London, recently engaged our services to design, manufacture and install 350 staff lockers at their classic boutique hotel. This eclectic, yet exquisitely designed building was a sight to see, and we were fortunate to be able to work on this project.
In the stunning Lake District, we undertook a project installing Egger Grey, Bardolino, oak door lockers at the luxury Swan Hotel & Spa, for their new ‘Holte Spa’ facility. This spa offers specifically tailored thermal journeys; with an authentic outdoor Finnish sauna, minimal chlorine, naturally filtered pools and cosy relaxation spaces and we were pleased to be asked to be part of this new fit-out.
Crown Sports have completed a multitude of hotel and spa new installations and refurbishments, providing bespoke solutions to suit the requirements of luxury hotels; hotel chains; independent hotels and spa facilities alike.
Leisure and Sports Clubs
Crown have been working with Village Hotels for the last 15 years, and originally installed the above lockers in 2004, refurbishing them in 2016. We were pleased to be asked by The Village London Watford Hotel to give the locker facias a brand new look to complement the décor and install free-standing seating, which has now been completed.
At the Pendle Wavelengths Leisure Pool, Spa and Gym in Nelson – home of the famous roof-high waterslide – Crown were asked to return, after previously installing lockers 15yrs ago. We manufactured new lockers and installed them in their relaxing thermal suite spa. We were glad be chosen to update this facility, after such a long time.
Gym lockers were required at gymetc. in Stalybridge, Manchester. As leading wooden locker manufacturers, they asked us to design, manufacture and fit new lockers for their club in the North of England.
Crown Sports Lockers can manufacture waterproof, antibacterial swimming lockers and wooden gym lockers to suit your needs. Locker benches or free-standing bench seating can also be installed to complement the look.
Exciting News!
The Independent Schools Association (ISA) have recently approved Crown Sports Lockers as the ‘Gold Preferred Supplier’ for independent schools, colleges and universities across the UK. This was a major coup for us, and we look forward to reaping the benefits over the coming years!
Subsequently, we attended the ISA Autumn Study Conference at the Chesford Grange Hotel, in Kenilworth, where ISA members, senior leaders and decision-makers attended to network and form working relationships.
This year, we also managed to obtain some potentially fruitful leads for future projects, from the Independent Schools Bursars Association (ISBA) Conference.
New Equipment and ‘Keeping it Green’ – Investing in the Future
In 2022, Crown Sports Lockers invested in a new state-of-the-art CNC Edgebander machine. It is vital to invest in the future of the business, thus increasing capacity and keeping up-to-date with modern technology, enabling us to continue to run an efficient manufacturing process. This industrial-grade machine secures edging tape to raw edges of wooden panels.
The first of several planned EV Charger points was recently installed at our premises in Paignton. This allows both staff and visitors to charge their electric vehicles, taking direct feed from the solar panels on our roof. Drawing from a renewable energy source, is another positive step towards being environmentally friendly and helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
Leading Wooden Locker Manufacturers – Exhibiting in 2022
We have travelled to both the ‘Excel’ and ‘Olympia’ venues in London over the past 12 months, to exhibit our wooden lockers and ancillary products to two different industry sectors.
We attended the ‘Elevate’ exhibition in June, where there were over 250 exhibitors, with attendees from gyms, studios, sports clubs and universities to name but a few. Elevate promotes physical activity across the UK and this was an ideal opportunity for us to meet both public and private sector decision-makers and entrepreneurs – showcasing our top-quality products and networking in a bid to secure leads and ultimately, future projects.
In October, we exhibited at the ‘Independent Hotel Show’ which was dedicated to the needs of luxury and boutique hoteliers. Over 200 exhibitors connected and built relationships with hoteliers, with the aim of securing contracts. We also took advantage of identifying the latest trends from established interior designers in the industry, to help us keep abreast of new styles and remain competitive.
