Changing Demands Deserve Creative Solutions

Crown Sports Lockers creates memorable changing room environments that are designed to enhance customer experiences.

Since 1993, it has designed, manufactured and installed bespoke wooden changing room furniture for the spa, hotel, fitness, leisure and sport sectors.

Within its purpose-built factory, Crown utilises advanced technology to manufacture lockers, spa treatment room furniture, vanities, bench seating, reception desks, bedroom furniture, washroom IPS and cubicles in a host of materials, colours and finishings.

Crown exhibiting at Independent Hotel Show
A regular exhibitor at the Independent Hotel Show, Crown has doubled the area of its stand (S11) this year within the Destination Spa section to develop a spa and changing room `walkthrough` displaying examples of the company’s vast range of bespoke furniture options.

Among a host of digital, electronic and traditional locking systems Crown will be displaying the Axis range from Digilock, newly uprated to IP55 and ideal for damp environments such as changing areas and spas.

Designated project manager
Because every installation has its own demands and requirements, Crown ensures that a designated project manager oversees each fitout, from the first site meeting and survey, to preparing computer-aided design (CAD (drawings), completion and signoff, after sales and servicing.

The company also works closely with architects, interior designers and contractors to ensure each install fully meets the needs of the client, whatever the size of the project.

Hotel leisure upgrade "good for business"
Family-owned Ilsington Country House Hotel in Newton Abbot lies within Dartmoor National Park and commands stunning views across historic landscapes.

The 25-bed destination wanted to upgrade its outdated 1980s swimming pool, sauna and whirlpool spa, housed in a separate building, to cater for today’s demands.

After conducting an extensive feasibility study into developing an integrated spa and associated facilities within the main hotel, director Richard Hassell, commissioned Ashton House Design to develop designs for spa changing areas and finishes, which in turn brought in Crown for the fitout – the latest of several projects they have collaborated on.

The seal grey, beach-effect changing provision features lockers incorporating solid oak shaker doors with random driftwood effect inset panels, vanities, upholstered seating and wall panelling, generating a restful ambience chiming with the spa’s restorative values.

“Since the new spa opened 18 months ago, we have doubled membership,” reports Richard. “Our spa day and weekend packages are massive too. A year after the new facility opened turnover had risen 20% - that’s huge growth for us.”

Gamechanging days at Brightlife
With a vision to “encompass the breadth of personal beliefs”, Brightlife Centre, Isle of Man attracts visitors from across UK, mainland Europe and the Far East, such is its appeal.

Offering everything from yoga and pilates to personal and corporate development workshops, the Centre closed in 2015 for an extensive refurbishment that has elevated it to a higher realm to satisfy client demand for spa relaxation days.

“We wanted `the look`,” says Operations Director Julie Watson, who led the search for a supplier to realise a vision that was two years in the planning.

After searching the marketplace, Brightlife selected Crown for fitting out the changing areas with lockers, vanity units and towel storage under a design that oozes tranquillity and sophistication.

“Crown’s designated project manager [Sam Palmer] was so helpful,” Julie adds. “Nothing was too much trouble to ensure the project was completed on time and on budget. We could not have picked a better company to work with.”

Proven, consistent quality
Manufacturing capability allows Crown to consistently control and deliver fine quality workmanship and installations and to prove the point is the only timber manufacturer to attain ISO9001 and 14002, and the only one to submit lockers for British Standards testing, both wooden and glass doors, for which they have accreditation.

As the hospitality sector continues to strengthen, Crown is developing strong working relationships with spa specialists and designers to ensure changing area provision not only reflects but predicts trends.
