The Royle treatment

May 6, 2018

Hard on the heels of refreshing health club changing provision at Castle Royle Golf & Country Club, bespoke furniture manufacturer and installer Crown Sports Lockers has just refitted their golf men’s locker room.

Maidenhead masterpiece

The members-only championship 18-hole course near Maidenhead, Berkshire, sits in 180 acres of scenic rolling parkland with reportedly some of the best greens in Berkshire and beyond.

A preferred supplier to operator The Club Company, with whom the installer has worked for well over a decade, Crown fitted golf bag, clothes and holdall lockers in sophisticated Truffle Brown Davos oak, complete with bench seating, while furnishing the washroom with changing cubicles in Polyrey compact laminate and crisp white Corian top wet vanity with inset wash basins.

Currently club of the year in trade body UK Active’s annual Flame Awards, Castle Royle called in Crown to refresh its health club female changing area late last year to keep ahead of the curb in the fast-moving fitness sector

The scope of that work included fitting new locker doors, mirrors, grooming station and extra changing cubicles, all in an Egger woodgrain finish, while retaining the locker bodies and refreshing the female washroom with a Corian vanity and WC cubicles with IPS panels in a Polyrey compact laminate finish.

“The Castle Royle golf fitout is a particularly stylish install,” notes Crown Sports Lockers project manager Spencer Grimwood, who oversaw the work throughout, “and is another example of how we are increasingly being specified to provide a turnkey solution in changing rooms, including washrooms as well as locker supply.”

Editors Notes

The Club Company UK has lifted trade body UK Active’s operator of the year award four times, while several of its 13 sites have clinched the coveted club of the year accolade across various categories.

A Club Company UK preferred supplier, Crown has also recently fitted out the operator’s Woodbury Park site – bought in 2016 and once owned by Formula 1 World Champion Nigel Mansell – with wet and dry changing facilities.
